Edgemont Athletic is all about movement that motivates, from the pulse of Ride365 to the precision of Pilates.
As our world-class fitness community gears up for the opening of its newest boutique studio, Precision Pilates, we sat down with instructor and Ride365 Manager Rachael Wilkes (a longtime member of the Edgemont family and a driving force in our community) to talk about what makes Edgemont Athletic different, what’s next for members, and how finding the right ‘workout classes near me’ might just be the key to finding your edge.
Interview with Rachael Wilkes, Ride365 Manager at Edgemont Athletic

Q: Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your role at Edgemont Athletic?
I’m Rachel Wilkes. I’ve been an instructor at Edgemont Athletic for almost three years now, and I teach almost every modality that we offer, including spin, aerial yoga, mat Pilates, barre, HIIT, and then soon-to-be Precision Pilates, too.
Q: What do you enjoy most about being part of the Edgemont Athletic community?
I love working here at Edgemont Athletic. I’ve been a part of the fitness industry for quite a while, and I’ve had my fair share of bouncing around. This is a community that has and will always welcome everyone with open arms, so I feel very loved here. I feel very supported, not just by my team, but by the members. I love my job. I love being a part of this community every day.
Q: We’ve heard there’s something exciting coming soon at Edgemont Athletic. Can you tell us more?
There is a new studio opening! Edgemont Athletic is proud to announce our fifth boutique studio, Precision Pilates, and I happen to be the manager of it. This has been a project that I’ve been working on and been very passionate about for almost nine months now. Our reformers have arrived, we’re doing our teacher training this month, and we are hopefully opening classes by the end of November. This is a great addition to everything else that Edgemont Athletic offers. Take your Pilates practice to the next level by adding in all of the core values [of Pilates] such as strength, stability, balance, and core. I’m very excited.
Q: For those looking to start or continue their fitness journey, what would you say to them?
If any of you out there are looking for a place to start your fitness journey or just continue [your fitness journey], I promise Edgemont Athletic has a place for you. We have the classes for you and the instructors for you. We’re so well-versed in our variety of levels of different experiences, and I would highly encourage you to come and at least see what it’s like to be a part of the Edgemont community
Q: Finally, when can people join your classes?
If you want to join me for any of my classes, I teach basically everything. You can catch me in Studio 40 on Tuesdays at 4pm, or Wednesdays and Fridays at 7am. I teach mat Pilates 2pm on Tuesdays. Catch me in Ride365 6pm on Tuesdays. Aerial yoga – if you’re looking for something new to try – I’m here (in the Core Studio) Fridays at 10 am as well.

- Barre: Inspired by a blend of ballet, yoga, and Pilates, our Barre classes use low-impact movements at a challenging intensity. It’s a fantastic way to build length, strength, and endurance.
- PUMP: This is your hour of power. A 60-minute, full-body workout set to amazing music, PUMP is a choreographed strength class that’s perfect for all levels. You’ll leave feeling strong and ultra-accomplished.
- Zumba: Let the music take over! Zumba is a high-energy dance party featuring exhilarating, easy-to-follow moves set to Latin and international rhythms. It’s so much fun, you might even forget you’re working out.
- Mat Pilates: This low-impact workout focuses on strengthening, lengthening, and toning your muscles. With an emphasis on breath, alignment, and the mind-body connection, you’ll build deep core strength and improve your posture.
- Glutes & Gains: Designed for all fitness levels, this class focuses on building a stronger posterior chain with targeted glute exercises and powerful full-body movements to increase your overall strength and endurance.
- Gentle Fit: A 60-minute full-body workout that’s easy on the joints but still gets your heart rate up. With a longer warm-up and cool-down, it’s a perfect way to build strength and fitness in a supportive environment.

Track your cadence and power to see your progress as you immerse yourself in the music.
- FreeBeat: In this gym class, the rhythm rules. Let the music guide you through an interval-based workout where your effort is managed through ‘Perceived Rate of Exertion’ (a self-rating of how you feel) and/or bike gearing. It’s a great introduction to our studio and a guaranteed good time.
- Peaks and Beats: Ready to level up? This class introduces performance training by focusing on key metrics like your power output (watts). You’ll tackle everything from long, progressive climbs to short, intense bursts of speed.

4. Studio 40

This is our sanctuary for yoga and mindful movement. Heated to the perfect temperature depending on your class, Studio 40 is a place to connect with your breath, challenge your body, and calm your mind. We offer a wide range of classes in heated environments, from deep, restorative stretches to powerful, energetic flows.
- Warm Yin: A quiet, introspective practice in a warm room (33°C). Poses are held for several minutes to target the deep connective tissues, leaving you feeling open and restored.
- Warm Yang/Yin: The best of both worlds. This class blends a dynamic, active (Yang) practice with slow, cooling (Yin) poses for a perfectly balanced experience.
- Hot Hatha: A foundational practice in a hot room (39°C). Poses are held longer to build strength and focus. These workout classes are accessible for all levels.
- Warm Flow: This is where your breath becomes your guide. In a warm room, you’ll move dynamically from one pose to the next, synchronizing every movement to an inhale or an exhale. The pace is faster than Hatha, creating a continuous and energizing flow that builds on foundational yoga principles.
- Hot Vinyasa: Ready to turn up the heat and the intensity? Practiced in a hot room (36°C), this is our fastest-paced and most challenging yoga class. You’ll move through creative and strong sequences that introduce more advanced poses, like arm balances and inversions, and use powerful transitions. This class is perfect for experienced yogis looking to push their practice to the next level.
- Hot Fundamental Flow: A hot class (38.5°C) that focuses on proper alignment and safe transitions, making it a great way to grow your flow practice.
- Mobility Yoga: A gentle class focused on increasing your range of motion and improving balance and stability. Using props and breathing techniques, you’ll restore your body and move more freely.
- Warm Yoga Sculpt: This class adds a new challenge to a traditional yoga flow. You’ll use light weights in a warm room (31°C) to build lean muscle, boost your metabolism, and get your heart pumping.
- Warm Functional Yoga: This class is all about connecting your practice to your daily life. The sequences are designed to help you move better and perform everyday activities with greater ease and efficiency.
