tennis-SPECIFIC etiquette
- If early, please wait behind the backdrop tarp or on the mezzanine.
- Please do not walk across courts – use the walkway behind the backdrop tarp.
- If a ball strays on to another court please let players know if it is a tripping hazard, otherwise allow their rally to end before asking for the ball to be returned.
- If you are having difficulty controlling the ball, please draw the divider nets between the courts.
SQUASH-SPECIFIC etiquette
- Protective eyewear is recommended for everyone, but mandatory for all juniors under 19.
- Alcoholic drinks are restricted to the area in which they were served.

Purpose
Guiding Principles
- Safety First: Every child has the right to participate in a safe environment free from abuse, harassment, and discrimination.
- Respect: Treat all players, officials, coaches, parents, and opponents with respect and dignity.
- Fair Play: Play fair, follow the rules, and encourage teamwork and good sportsmanship.
- Fun and Development: Prioritize skill development, confidence, and enjoyment over winning.
- Inclusivity: Ensure participation opportunities regardless of gender, race, ability, or background.
Expectations for Conduct
Coaches and Staff
- Model positive behavior and language at all times.
- Never use physical punishment or verbal abuse.
- Ensure all participants are supervised by qualified, screened adults.
- Promote equal playing time and opportunities for all players.
- Complete required Vulnerable Sector Checks and Safe Sport training.
- Report any suspected child abuse or misconduct as required under Alberta’s Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act.
Parents and Guardians
- Support your child’s participation positively—no yelling, swearing, or arguing with officials.
- Respect all players, coaches, and volunteers.
- Encourage effort and enjoyment, not just winning.
- Refrain from sideline coaching; allow coaches to coach.
- Address concerns respectfully and privately through proper channels.
Youth Participants
- Play by the rules and respect officials’ decisions.
- Treat teammates, opponents, and coaches with kindness.
- Try your best, have fun, and support others.
- Avoid bullying, teasing, or exclusion of any kind.
- Treat the facility with respect.
Safety and Reporting
- All staff and volunteers must follow Edgemont Athletic’s duty to report obligations.
- Any concerns about misconduct, bullying, harassment, or abuse must be reported immediately to the Program Supervisor or Designated Safe Sport Officer.
- Reports will be handled confidentially and investigated promptly.
Consequences for Misconduct
- Verbal or written warnings
- Suspension or removal from the program
- Termination of employment or volunteer role
- Reporting to appropriate authorities if required by law

SQUASH CANADA: SAFE SPORT
Squash Canada believes that everyone in the sport has the right to enjoy the sport at whatever level or position they participate. Athletes, coaches, officials and volunteers have the right to participate in a safe and inclusive training and competitive environment that is free of abuse, harassment or discrimination.
Squash Canada believes the welfare of everyone involved in the sport is a foremost consideration and in particular, the protection of children/athletes in the sport is the responsibility of each individual, member and organization in the squash community.
Safe Sport Operational Statement: The Squash Canada safe sport program includes three key areas: education, prevention and response, all of which will be supported by strong governance, policies and procedures. The goal is to ensure that all participants in Squash Canada activity, at all levels, have the resources to provide and access a fun, healthy, inclusive and safe environment.
TENNIS CANADA: SPORT SAFETY CODE OF CONDUCT
This Code establishes the standards of behavior expected from all participants within Tennis Canada to ensure a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment, free from misconduct and maltreatment.
Purpose: Promote ethical conduct and integrity among all organizational participants.
Ensure compliance with the Universal Code of Conduct to Prevent and Address Maltreatment in Sport (UCCMS).
Scope: Applies to all individuals involved with Tennis Canada, including athletes, coaches, officials, employees, volunteers, and board members.
Incorporates the UCCMS by reference, with immediate effect upon any amendments.
Key Principles:
- Integrity: Acting in an open, ethical, and fair manner.
- Respect: Treating everyone equally, regardless of personal characteristics.
- Safety: Providing a safe environment, free from abuse, harassment, and discrimination.
Reporting and Compliance:
- Encourages reporting of all violations, especially prohibited behaviour and maltreatment.
- Designates an Independent Third Party (ITP) to receive and investigate complaints.
- Outlines consequences for non-compliance, including potential disciplinary actions.
